Unfortunate Delays

Hello Everyone, 

Sorry it has been a few weeks since the last shipping update. We've been prepping everything so we could have started shipping by now and we're ready...but there have been some major delays in the gilding on the cards that has slowed everything down. I had really planned to have everything out by now, but this part is unfortunately out of my control at this point. I only just got an update today from the USPCC after asking several times for a clear timeframe of when to expect the decks. They quote a production time for gilding of 8 - 10 weeks and we are now in week 12.. so I am a little frustrated to say the least.

Here's what happened with the gilding: Part of the machine they use to gild cards broke and they had to order new parts, which put them behind several weeks. They then gilded a batch of the cards with copper instead of gold, putting us even further behind. They're now telling me I should be getting the cards in a few weeks, but that isn't going to be enough time for us to go through all of the orders and fulfill them by Christmas. It's bumming me out, as I wanted nothing more for these to arrive in time for the Holidays. But this whole process is proving that no matter how much control you think you have over a situation there will be outside forces you can't anticipate. 

I'm really, really sorry. I know many of you planned to give these as gifts for the holidays and I'm letting you down right now. Just know that we're trying our hardest to deliver Open Portals as soon as we can, and I really do appreciate your patience. I thought that putting the order in for the edition at the end of June would be more than enough time for the decks to arrive by now, but production has taken much longer than they quoted.

Well I wanted to have stronger news of shipping at this point in time but as things go there have been some delays in various aspects of the project. Everything is 95% done but we are still waiting on the gilding to be finished on the decks.

I really appreciate everyone's patience and support on this project, we are so so close to shipping and there are a few little surprises in the project that I think will make it worth the wait. 

I'll post another update when I have a clear idea of when we can begin shipping, but right now it's looking more like the end of November beginning of December. 

Thank you again, I am really excited for you all to get these decks in your hands and share them with your loved ones. In the meantime, check out the new open portals website I designed at openportalscards.com 

Final Shipping Address Changes

Hello everyone! 

As we're preparing to begin shipping in November I will be locking all shipping addresses and orders at the end of this week. 

If you need to change your shipping address or would like to add anything to your order you can do so in the Open Portals Backerkit site:

https://openportals.backerkit.com/

We will be using Backerkit for fulfillment so please make all address changes there! We will not be using Kickstarter survey responses for fulfillment, so address changes made here will likely be overlooked. 

All orders will be locked on Friday Morning at 11am Pacific Time.

Open Portals Samples!

I just got the first sample decks in this morning! They look amaaaaazing. I'm so eager to get these out to all of you. 

I had the USPCC send me a sample of both the original deck and the darkside deck so I could get you all some actual photos of the decks. They are still in production and will be sent off for gilding shortly. We're expecting to have the decks in the studio at the end of October/beginning of November. So we're still on track to get everyone's rewards shipped out sometime in November. As we get closer I will update you with a more precise timeline, but for now enjoy the first look at the photos below. 

Also, if you haven't filled out your BackerKit survey with your address please please do so, I will be locking in orders next week so this will be your last chance to change your shipping address. Your shipping address should be where ever you expect to be living in November/December. 

First Look: Manuals

The two manuals that come with each deck are off to the printer! Each manual folds down to the size of a playing card deck and when unfolded is over 24" long. 

We spent a lot of time on these and they are packed with information on how to play the game as well as how to use Open Portals as an oracle deck.
